Services d’autoassistance, d’entraide et de soutien
Les groupes d’assistance, d’entraide et de soutien sont des organisations à but non lucratif, volontaire qui offrent du soutien aux individus qui partagent des expériences communes.
Comme décrits par « the International Network of Mutual Help centers », les groupes d’assistances sont à but non lucratif; ouvert aux membres du public général qui partage une expérience commune; formé de rencontres régulières et ouvertes aux nouveaux membres; offre du support mutuel à travers la discussion et le partage d’information et d’expérience. Les membres utilisent leurs forces individuelles pour offrir du soutien entre eux et peuvent utiliser leurs forces en groupe pour promouvoir des changements sociaux; géré par et pour le groupe. Même si les professionnels (soins de la santé) participent à la demande du groupe, leurs rôles restent ceux de conseillers.
