Kate is a Social Worker with nearly 20 years experience. Prior to beginning individual private practice she worked as a Community Mental Health Worker with the Pembroke Regional Hospital. Her focus is mainly individuals 12 and older, though couples counselling is also available. Kate is a highly collaborative, psychodynamic practitioner who draws from DBT, CBT, narrative and Internal Family Systems Theory as well as applying training and knowledge of neuroplasticity and mindfulness practices. These are effective approaches for individuals who have experienced trauma, who struggle with emotional regulation difficulties, mood disorders such as depression or anxiety. Kate is dedicated to holistic approaches that view the individual as a complete system and places emphasis on building and trusting individual insight and confidence. She encourages time in nature as an important part of wellness and balance. Visits may take place in her home office located in a self contained private cabin backing into green space or arranged as "walk and talk" or community based visits where appropriate.
