I offer 50-minute telehealth sessions through phone calls or video sessions.
I specialize in individual therapy built on elements which help to bring to the surface your full potential, leading to a better quality of life. I feel the therapeutic relationship is the first place to start and I endeavor to make my sessions a non-judgmental, collaborative and confidential safe space to share what can be very personal situations. I am flexible, as there is no one size fits all in therapy, so I use an eclectic approach in my sessions to better suit my clients needs. I believe every person and their situation is unique and their therapy sessions should be as well.
My personal therapeutic style includes elements of warmth, acceptance, respect, and I place a high importance on careful listening, empathy, professional ethics, and accountability. My approach is motivated by who you are and what you identify as important. Further, I utilize a biopsychosocial-spiritual lens to my practice; I believe that people function best when there is peace among the elements of one’s body, mind, social situations, cultural and spiritual life.
Clients take responsibility for their gains in counselling and for their personal successes; the counsellor’s role is that of a guide. Understanding comes first, I am passionate about the role of context: understanding you as a person and the world that you live in is critical in outlining a meaningful path in therapy. If we jump too early to tools and strategies, clients are left with a broad, depersonalized intervention. Many people benefit from counselling at some point in their lives this includes counsellors too! Counselling can be a healthy conversation that recognizes, promotes, and mobilizes client’s strengths to reach personal S.M.A.R.T goals.
Current Theoretical Counselling Approaches I work with:
I currently work with but am not limited to Person-Centered Therapy (PCT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Positive Psychology and Solution Focused Therapy (SFBT). I have studied many theoretical orientations, though I appreciate the elements and the client-centered emphasis these modalities have. As a counsellor I am always learning and open to new client-centered counselling methods.
