Please join Simon Denegri, Chair of the National Institute for Health Research’s INVOLVE advisory group as he kicks off REFLECT 2017 on October 1st, 2017. This event will be co-hosted by Dr. Simon Hatcher, Vice-Chair of Research for the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Ottawa, and Dr. Marnin Heisel, Associate Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Epidemiology & Bio-Statistics.

At this event, researchers, policy makers and trainees will have an opportunity to:
• Connect with clients with lived experience;
• Connect with other researchers, policy makers and trainees involved in suicidology research;
• Attend training lectures, workshops and seminars about patient-oriented suicide prevention research;
• Learn about how to incorporate clients with lived into your research and increase your likelihood of obtaining grant funding;
• Attend mentoring sessions with other researchers, clinicians, trainees and policy makers interested in patient-oriented suicide prevention research;
• Help to create shared knowledge in patient-oriented suicide prevention research.
Applications from researchers, clinicians, policy makers, trainees and people with lived experience will be accepted until August 31, 2017. A certificate of attendance will be provided by the University of Ottawa’s Office of Continuing Professional Development. Early career researchers are especially encouraged to attend. Registration for the event is $100.00 ($50.00 for trainees). People with lived experience are also encouraged to apply for REFLECT 2017 bursaries to defray registration costs.

REFLECT 2017 is a three-day event that aims to bring together people with lived experience and researchers in suicide and self-harm.
